Get IceWeasel

I’m no artist, but I made some “Get IceWeasel” buttons as sort of a joke. They’re based on a button found on SpreadFirefox. Let me know what you think.

Get IceWeasel

Empty Button

Button with IceWeasel Logo

And  for those that share the opposite opinion

Don’t get IceWeasel

In the rare event that you actually want to use them please email me at bzqwerty (at symbol) gmail (a period) com

    I ♥ IceWeasel, i even made a script for automation

    #!/bin/bash
    # Description : Iceweasel, temporary installer
    # this script removes firefox installed by apt
    # and install iceweasel in the /opt directory

    URL="http://gnuzilla.gnu.org/download/iceweasel-1.5.0.7-g1-i386.tar.bz2"
    ICEWEASELTAR=`basename "http://gnuzilla.gnu.org/download/iceweasel-1.5.0.7-g1-i386.tar.bz2"`
    ICEWEASELDIR=${ICEWEASELTAR%.tar.bz2}
    TARGET="/opt/iceweasel"

    MFplugs="/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins"
    Fplugs="/usr/lib/firefox/plugins"

    if [ $UID -ne 0 ]; then
    echo "you must be root to run this script"
    exit 1
    fi

    if [ -e /usr/bin/firefox ]; then
    dpkg -P firefox
    fi

    cd /opt
    wget -c $URL && tar xjf $ICEWEASELTAR
    mv $ICEWEASELDIR $TARGET
    cd $TARGET/plugins

    if [ -e $MFplugs ]; then
    for plugin in $MFplugs/* ; do
    ln -s $plugin &>/dev/null
    done
    fi

    if [ -e $Fplugs ]; then
    for plugin in $Fplugs/* ; do
    ln -s $plugin &>/dev/null
    done
    fi

    cd /usr/bin/ && ln -s $TARGET/iceweasel
    chmod +x $TARGET/iceweasel
    cd /opt
    rm $ICEWEASELTAR
    echo -e "all done, when deb packages hits the mirrors:"
    echo -e "\tin case you decide to apt-get from the official mirrors, "
    echo -e "\tthe symlink shoud be overwritten"
    echo -e "\tmake sure you erase de $TARGET directory after that happens"
    echo -e "\n\nFor the moment enjoy ;-)"

    […] Just in time (or close enough) for Firefox 2.0 here’s a new “Get IceWeasel” button. This one should be better quality than the last batch. I am now using an icon made by K.Mandla. Feel free to leave a post if there is another icon you’d like me to use instead. […]
